Repressive state apparatus: the police, the politics, the government itself, the army, courts, etc., which intervene directly on behalf of the ruling class and ideological state apparatuses: media, education, religion, family, etc., which assert, disseminate, and affirm ruling class ideology → reinforce dominant class control & promote ways of being, knowing, and doing that are in line with dominant class interests & certain ways of viewing/evaluating/interpreting things, events, class relations.
